A beautiful non-sweet treat that works as a salty break between all the holiday candy
These cheese-stuffed figs are a flawless, well-balanced little snack which works very well with gingerbread, on a wintery salad together with walnuts, or to eat just as they are. Keep in mind that the figs should be ripe, so the natural sweetness appears and tones down the distinctive blue cheese – a perfect match.
Ingredients
Serves 6
- 6 figs
- 100 g blue cheese (for instance the award winning Sörmlands Ädel)
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 5 fresh thyme twigs
- 1 pinch of sea salt
- freshly ground black pepper

Method
Set the oven to 180 degrees celsius. Cut a cross through the figs so they almost get divided into four wedges. Fill them with crumbled blue cheese and drizzle over some honey.
Bake the figs for about 5-10 minutes or until the cheese has almost melted.
Allow the figs to cool for a while before you sprinkle on some salt and black pepper. Finish your snack by drizzling over a little olive oil and garnish with a few thyme leaves. Eat and enjoy while the figs are still warm.
