Step aside, pristine and untouched faux leathers: According to the style set at Copenhagen Fashion Week, this season is all about that deliciously worn-in effect

What do the most style-savvy show-goers of Copenhagen Fashion Week's autumn/winter 2023 season have in common? They all opted for the classic leather jacket in their wardrobe, but not just any leather jacket. The kind that looks like it truly has stories to tell.

Take, for instance, the Danish creative designer and co-founder of Rotate, Jeanette Madsen, who shrugged on an oversized, lived-in, caramel-hued leather jacket over a black hoodie and a form-fitting skirt. Elsewhere, Vivianne Horn revealed that she was wearing her dad's old leather jacket, kept as a family treasure for over 40 years, while Norwegian artist Maya Vik sported a distressed vintage jacket with a pastel pink cap and handbag.

Some things just get better with age, leather jackets inclusive. Pre-loved leather jacket is not a more sustainable option, but adds that extra layer of character to an ensemble. Below, the best of weathered leather on the streets of Copenhagen, as captured by photographer Maria Rogerdotter.
