At Copenhagen Fashion Week this season, our very own print editor Allyson Shiffman was invited by OpéraSport to switch things up a little for AW24: instead of sitting front row, to walk the runway itself. Here, we glimpse some of the behind-the-scenes moments
Those packed into the lobby of Copenhagen Opera House on Wednesday morning for OpéraSport's autumn/winter '24 runway show were treated to a fresh line-up of faces on the runway, as brand co-founders and designers Stephanie Gundelach and Awa Malina peppered their model casting with an array of key industry profiles.
Alongside peers from the likes of British Vogue and GQ, and stars such as Danish actor Amanda Collin, was Vogue Scandinavia's very own print editor Allyson Shiffman, dressed in a look that captured the spirit of the AW24 collection: “blending the elegance of the opera with more sporty elements".
Below, Shiffman talks us through some of the behind-the-scenes moments of her Copenhagen Fashion Week modelling debut.
"My friend and former Vogue Scandinavia cover star Chili Dia was opening the show so I asked her to give me a quick and dirty walking lesson. Here she is reminding me to keep my chin down in the bathroom shortly before showtime. When I told her I was a bit nervous, she said “Don't be. You know how to walk right? How did you get to this building?'"
"It was comforting to be walking alongside fellow Vogue journalist and runway first-timer Alice Cary. Here I am asking her 'Why on earth did we agree to do this?!'"
"Soliciting some more advice from fellow models. A common suggestion was to 'remember to breathe'."
"Our editor-in-chief Martina Bonnier took this video. It's one thing to walk the runway but it's another to walk the runway in front of your boss! But you know what, when it was actually happening, it was a total thrill. And my chin is down and I'm breathing."
"The grand finale. Actor Amanda Collin, standing to my right, told me she was going to channel Sigourney Weaver in Alien for the finale. I told her that I was going to channel the Alien."
