Get into Tove Styrke's mind and analyse the behind the scenes of her latest music video and creative process with us
Musical theatre is intrinsically dramatic, even better, it has to be; yet there are few moments in its history as invigorating and intense as the cuspid of Confrontation, where Jekyll realised he in fact cannot keep Hyde hidden forever nor destroy him as he planned.
Similar to this narrative, most people are constantly battling with keeping their own dark side hidden or fight to minimise these mood changes. Opposite to this, Tove Styrke embraces her own emotional oscillations and actually empowers herself through her new single Mood Swings.
And here’s the thing, mood swings are usually seen as negative actions because we’re expected to deliver perfection. We’re programmed to avoid them and to always seek being the best that we can because anything less isn’t enough; that being said, everyone suffers mood changes and most of the time we stop enjoying our own life thanks to being in an over hyper vigilant state seeking things that are wrong. Tove takes this and turns it around, embraces what is usually seen as negative and pumps the volume up to 200%.
In this exclusive interview, besides taking us in a never seen before BTS of her new music, Tove talks about her own journey of stopping to seek perfection in a toxic way, enjoying her creative process and coming out with new art.
