The sought-out Swedish brand's latest collection treats its signature codes to a dose of sun-bleached summer romance
After staging its first ready-to-wear runway show in Paris at the start of the year, there's been a palpable shift for Toteme as the brand infiltrates its way into more A-list wardrobes and aspirational fashion orbits, becoming something along the lines of Scandinavia's answer to The Row.
Being the follow-up to Toteme's runway revelation, the pre-fall '24 collection feels suitably decisive and assured. Tailor-made for laid-back summer dressing, with a knowing nod to the western leanings of today's trends, Toteme's familiar monochromatic DNA is diluted with splashes of summer: note the doses or faded florals and sun-bleached pastel checks.
The chosen textiles fit the mood, with languid linen-blends, lightweight layers of organic cotton and gently tailored denim. Elsewhere, the emblematic T-lock back is revisited in soft ecru cotton-canvas. In true Toteme form, some unexpected pieces in the line-up keep us on our toes – like a hybrid moccasin-ballerina and sharply tailored, leopard-print car coat.
