A favourite of the late Princess Diana and N'Sync alike, overalls have become the latest fashion item to reemerge from decades past, making their way into our daily wardrobe rotation. And the garment's versatility is a true testament to this trend, being equal parts 1990s club kid revival and romanticised cottage core aesthetic. However, a surprising lack of overalls was seen on the spring/summer runways, meaning that this specific trend was born on the internet with the online generation spearheading the charge. What was once the perfect relaxed throw-on garment meant for a rural stay has once again been turned into a fashion-forward must-have item.

Looking to the runways, overalls are cropping up on the autumn/winter runways. At Isabel Marant, a trio of leather dungarees worn with chunky knit sweaters or a matching leather bomber walked down the runway. Danish power-house Ganni showed a striped overall with a black long-sleeved turtleneck top with dainty bow-embellished flats.

Always ahead of the trends, our favourite local tastemakers show us the many ways we can wear this trend. Danish supermodel Josephine Skriver paired hers with an on-trend corset top, bucket hat and white sneakers. Swedish content creator Ellen Claeson opted for a black bikini paired with stark white dungarees, taking the trend to the archipelago.

However, one pair in particular has had a chokehold on the local tastemakers. Loose-fitting with straight legs and classic buckles, Isabel Marant's striped overalls has been spotted on everyone from Elsa Hosk (who paired her pair with a white tube top, matching Chanel bag and sandals) to Pernille Teisbaek (who sported a casual getup consisting of a grey T-shirt and black chunky sandals.)

When styling your overalls, layering is absolutely essential. To avoid any connotations to children's clothing, we suggest choosing an elevated alternative, whether a monochromatic pair or a cinched waist á la Miu Miu. If you're all about the casual, classic denim dungaree, the silhouette is central to your styling. Voluminous sleeves, textured knits, or an oversized pussy-bow peeking out atop your overalls are all ways to wear dungarees to the office. However, in the countryside, all you need is a bikini top for lazy days spent basking in the sun.

While those envy-inducing Isabel Marant versions may be sold out, below our we've assembled our favourite dungarees and overalls to invest in now:
