While most people change outfits for fashion week, this season, Vogue Scandinavia's diversity and inclusion editor Mona M. Ali focused on changing her hair
People always think that there is a reason why somebody is so fashionable or have such an eclectic personal style. Growing up, I lived in a strict household. So the second that I was allowed to pick whatever I wanted to wear and walk outside in the streets, I did just that. It became second nature to me. I can’t explain why I wear what I wear; there is no particular reason for it. It’s just as instinctive to me as taking a shower every day. It’s part of my routine. There is no inspiration behind it aside from how I’m feeling – If I feel sassy, I dress sassy. If I feel glamorous, I dress with glam in mind.

However, Copenhagen Fashion Week AW22 was approaching fast, and with my busy schedule, I hadn’t had the time to plan my outfits for the looming sartorial event of the season. So I found myself slowly panicking, and I thought, ‘how can I change things up this season?’ And then it struck me: Instead of focusing on the garments, I decided to focus on my hair. So I reached out to a friend and brilliant hairdresser Sainabou Chune, who let me borrow some of her wigs, which I packed in my suitcase.
I arrived in Copenhagen with only a single outfit and an array of wigs. Luckily, I managed to get some extra looks while I was there, even though I kept any look I wore fully focused around the wigs.

The wig
This wig is just a bob with fringe, however, I styled it very Pulp Fiction meets Lady Miss Kier from Deee-Lite. I sealed the hair with a statement white cowboy hat from SoonNoon. I love this wig because of how it shapes the face nicely, the fringe is just above the eyebrows so you can really see the facial features and the haircut is right above the shoulders, allowing it to fall naturally – I just love the little flick.
The look
While wearing a statement bright yellow coat from Baum Und Pferdgarten, the hair complimented the look with a quirky, fun element the didn’t overwhelm the overall outfit.

The wig
Looking back at this look it’s really giving me Clueless vibes, as if I was Dee’s under study. I really loved the ‘90s layers and long fringe.
The look
Even though the season showing was autumn/winter, I wanted to bring a touch of spring via this wig. I love how it looked so natural tucked under my fuzzy hat and falling over my Remain head-to-toe leather outfit.

The wig
This gorgeous lace front wig with bouncy beautiful curls was super thick and in your face. I wanted to wear this wig because it grabbed attention. It’s really giving me Diana Ross meets Tracee Ellis Ross. It’s old school with a modern touch.
The look
I wore an electric blue set from Rotate with matching eyeshadow from Urban Decay, and I wore these huge statement earrings from Clara Fina Frisk.
