We promise that it’s simpler than it looks, and it might even be office appropriate
Once again the TikTok gods have blessed us with a makeup filter that has us getting out the brushes, positioning the mirrors and preparing the ring lights to religiously follow them into another era. The latest look we’ve been bestowed with is inspired by the still-iconic supermodel of the 1960s, Twiggy.
The filter, which positions a-top your face the British model’s classic lashes, blue shadow and lined crease, has everyone recreating the look on the feed. TikTokkers such as Ellieloveux have got the look spot on, but while they make it look simple, it can take hours to actually perfect. So what if you want that Twiggy look in under 20 minutes? Is there an easier way to get it? Turns out there is.
It’s all in the lashes, eyeshadow and liner
It’s no secret that the visual key to getting the Twiggy look is to nail the under lashes, something Sophie Katirai (creator of the filter on TikTok) clearly understands. The virtual makeup she created focuses on adding thick lower lashes, of course, paired with their upper lash counterpart, a sharp outer and inner liner, blue eyeshadow and a thick mod-inspired lining right above the crease.
Translating that into an everyday, office-ready look means mascara, shadows, liner and a whole lot of confidence. The key lies in the mascara in particular, as the look itself relies heavily on how thick, obvious and prominent the lashes are. Most fake this part with a liner pen, but such an approach can take a lot of time and effort. Instead, a perfect workaround is a good mascara that allows you to build up and play a bit with the shape, thickness and movement of the lash. MAC’s new Stack Mascara or YSL’s Lash Clash are great options as they don't clump and allow for volume and thickness as well as stacking more than one layer without compromising the final look and texture. My personal trick is to get the brush as close to the lash’s base as possible and then take another clean brush to clump the lashes together into the classic thick Twiggy style.

From there, it’s all about a matte baby blue eyeshadow (although this can be changed for any pastel or bright colour of your liking), and then a sharp liner from the inner corner to the outer side of the eye. Look our for a pigmented shadow that will ensure you get a good colour pay off. Natasha Denona's Pastel Palette has a great combination of pastels and shimmers while Anastasia Beverly Hill's Norvina Pro Pigment Palette has stronger shades in case that’s what you’re looking for. While a good, old trusty liquid liner would be ideal, I’ve personally not unlocked the ability to get a clean sharp wing yet, so I fake it with a sharp, kohl liner and an angled brush for any clean up.
The same can be done with the upper lining of the crease. A go to liquid liner is Hourglass' Voyeur Waterproof Liquid Liner, while a great kohl liner to have in one's arsenal is RMS' Straight Line Kohl pencil.
And there you have it, an easy, everyday Twiggy look that you don’t have to be a professional makeup artist to master in minutes.
