Fashion's hottest property, Norwegian trans model Ceval Omar has smashed the glass ceiling in the industry – and she's only just warming up. Here, we chart her most outstanding career moments in 2022

Since she was discovered on Instagram in 2018, the Norwegian model Ceval Omar has been breaking barriers and shaping the future of fashion, an industry that has a history of being notoriously exclusive.

Omar's meteoric rise in modelling began when, in 2018, she was signed by three global modelling agencies – Heartbreak in Oslo, Muse in New York, and Present in London – all in the space of ten hours. Since then, Omar has been doing pioneering work in the industry and breaking new ground as the first Black trans curve model featured in British Vogue and [the first trans woman to pose for YSL Beauty.

Today, Omar is signed with more than six agencies worldwide, and although her plate seems already full, we have a feeling we will see her a lot more. Vogue Scandinavia first caught up with Omar last year in our December-January issue, and now, she is back to grace the cover of our October-November 2022 issue.

But what has happened in the model’s career since we last sat down with her? Well, Omar has certainly not slowed down, here's what she has been up to since...

More fashion magazine covers and editorials

In 2021, Omar garnered a couple of cover appearances in publications such as Elle Norway and Eurowoman, where in the latter, the icon-in-making donned nothing but her gorgeous self. This year, the model has kept racking up more covers and fashion editorials. Gracing the fronts of Elle Denmark and Elle Norway (for the third time in a year, mind you) Omar continued conquering the pages of fashion magazines, including Vogue Scandinavia's latest, October-November 2022 issue.

Major campaigns…

If you've been to a big city anywhere in the world, or an airport, or browsed a fashion magazine since June this year, odds are that you've seen Omar posing naked in a sensual Dolce & Gabbana campaign. Also this year, the model booked another huge job – for the campaign of cult beauty brand Charlotte Tilbury. However, on this occasion, Omar wasn't posing solo but next to industry heavyweights Kate Moss and Jourdan Dunn.

The newest addition to her roster of impressive assignments arrived this month when Omar announced her participation in the latest global Victoria's Secret campaign titled 'undefinable', empowering women’s voices across the globe. Other talents in the campaign include Bella Hadid, Paloma Elsesser and Brittney Spencer.

And momentous runway appearances

Since she was discovered, Omar has been no stranger to high-end catwalks, but during this year's fashion weeks, we spotted her strutting down a lot of runways. You could spot the beauty at Holzweiler's spring/summer 2023 showcase at Copenhagen Fashion Week, Versace's spring/summer 2023 spectacle at Milan Fashion Week and Trussardi's autumn/winter 2022 show at Milan Fashion Week. Next year, we'll no doubt see her walk even more.
