After witnessing the autumn/winter '23 showcases at the top end of this year, the time has finally come to take the latest trends into our stride. So what will be integrating into our wardrobes this season? In a sign of the times, the runways continued to dabble with '00s references, presenting new sartorial directions that are at once elevated and easily adopted.
In the transition from runway to store, we see pieces slightly adapted for wearability – take for instance Simone Rocha's slip dress or Diesel's sheer-panelled denim, both of which are subtly dialled down from the original show pieces. Elsewhere, there was a dedication to daily wear: from oversized knits to tailored shorts, these are trends that can we can effortless embrace. Or, take inspiration from the bolder seasonal tendencies, such as head-to-toe fire engine reds, or the most on-trend layering of skirts and dresses over trousers.
Below, a round-up of the 18 FW23 to know – and the best pieces to shop now for each.
White shirt, trousers and statement accessories
"Your favourite jeans and a white shirt has never been more relevant. Just add statement accessories and you’re done."
Mini skirts with suit jackets
"When styling a mini skirt, add a blazer so you don't feel as undressed. It dials down the sex appeal a little, while still being sultry and powerful."
Skirts over trousers
"Fall is all about layering. Switch out the stockings under your skit for a pair of matching trousers and you have a totally fresh, updated look."
Men's suiting
"A power suit is probably one of the most essential staples in this season's wardrobe."
Balletcore
"We all have a ballerina in us. This delicate and flirty look is all about dance, playfulness and fun."
Low-waist jeans with point-toe shoes
"I consider myself so lucky that I was working as a fashion editor when Alexander McQueen introduced the low-waist in the 90s. I love to revisit this trend and update it for today."

Dress over trousers

Seeing red

Oversized knits
"For cold weather I prefer a comfy, warm, and oversized knit. I love when the length goes over the wrist, substituting gloves."
Draped, figure-hugging dresses
"There is nothing more essential in your occasion wear wardrobe than a draped dress. While they're particular on-trend this season, they're a timeless investment that you'll wear forever."
Leather skirts

Corsets
"The most impactful top is of course the classic corset. The figure-hugging garment always gives you a flattering lift."
Shearling jacket

Wide skirts

Tailored shorts
