Stepping out for one of the grandest fashion nights of the year – the Nobel Award Ceremony – the Swedish royal family stuck to regal purple for the affair
Last night, Stockholm was abuzz with gowns, jewels, medals and ceremonial garb as the world gathered for the annual Nobel Award Ceremony at Stockholm City Hall. As per usual, the women of the Swedish royal family led the fashionable charge with Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Sofia of Sweden putting on a spectacular show of glittering finery in shades of purple and black.
Queen Silvia stepped down the monumental steps of City Hall in an embellished gown crafted in soft lilac silk by George Et Arend – a brand based in the Queen's native Germany. The beaded design on the long-sleeved bodice moved like snowflakes beneath the matriarch's robin's egg-blue Royal Order of the Seraphim sash, and the queen paired the silver beads with Queen Sophia’s Nine Prong Tiara (which references the name of the original owner of the diadem, Sofia of Nassau, the queen consort of King Oscar II).
It wasn't the first time we've seen Crown Princess Victoria in the gown: she wore the same dress to the state banquet at the first day of the Dutch State visit to Sweden on October 11, 2022. Just a she did when welcoming the Dutch, the Crown Princess picked the Napoleonic Amethyst Parure Tiara with matching purple centre stones for the Nobel affair.

Finally, Princess Sofia of Sweden opted to focus on dazzling jewellery for her look. Wearing a black long sleeved gown by Finnish brand Andiata, the Princess tapped Swarovski for her jewellery. Rows and rows of crystals adorned her neck and wrists, while she topped her undo with the Emerald Setting tiara she wore for her wedding.
All in all, it was a royal night to remember – painted in regal shades of purple, periwinkle, and perennially chic black.
