The pieces from the Veneda Carter x Ganni jewellery collaboration debuted on the AW23 runway last night at Copenhagen Fashion Week
For Veneda Carter, collaborating with Ganni on a capsule collection of jewellery is a real full-circle moment. In 2014, Carter, a celebrated stylist who launched her namesake jewellery brand last year, walked the first ever Ganni show on the tennis court of Copenhagen’s Mercur hotel. “Growing up in Copenhagen and being Danish, I’ve always been a big fan of the brand,” she says, adding, “Well, I’m actually Polish, but I grew up here”.
We’re sitting in Ganni’s candy-coloured showroom – a literal bowl of candy on the table between us. Also between us, the Veneda Carter x Ganni jewellery, which consists of a necklace, a bracelet and hoop earrings rendered in Carter’s signature gold nugget style (it’s actually sterling silver, plated with 18k gold, which places the collection neatly in Ganni’s democratic price point). Dangling from each piece is the brand spanking new Ganni logo: two back to back Gs, which also evoke a butterfly.

The collab came about organically. Last summer, Carter, who was once again walking the Ganni show, was in the office for a fitting. “Ditte [Reffstrup] was there and I was wearing a lot of my jewellery,” Carter says. “We started talking about maybe doing something together. And I was like… ‘What?!’” Half an hour later, the wheels were in motion and two days later Carter and Reffstrup had a more formal meeting. “We were vibing and sharing a few ideas and thoughts,” Carter says. “It happened so naturally.” This is Ganni’s second ever jewellery collab, the first being with Sophie Bille Brahe back in 2015.
Though Carter’s namesake brand is young, it’s instantly recognisable. She’s the first to admit that “many jewellery designers, especially in Scandinavia” have adopted the organic nature of classic golden nugget jewellery. Carter’s, pieces, however, have a sharper, rougher texture. “These look like rocks, even,” she says, as she plays with the necklace in her hands. “A future, new nugget style.”
The Veneda Carter x Ganni pieces made their debut at the Danish brand’s runway show yesterday evening. Carter didn’t walk, but she was sitting front row.
