With Valentine's Day a mere week away, get inspired by Copenhagen Fashion Weeks best and brightest street style stars on what to wear
The '20s seems to be the decade when the sartorial rulebook has been (rightfully) thrown out the window, and no subject has seen a bigger overhaul than colour combinations. Be it navy and black, or purple and green, in the past certain pairings were considered no-go for no real good reason. Yet no duo has been more vilified than red and pink.
Despite its past as a love-to-hate colour combination, it has recently captured the sartorial zeitgeist. On the spring/summer '24 runways Cecilie Bahnsen presented cotton-candy dresses laced with strawberry tulle and Fendi showed perfectly paired punchy pinks and bright reds rendered in high-neck knitwear.
But the biggest driver of the seismic shift towards pink and red has come from street stylers – particularly across the streets in Copenhagen this season. Just a couple of weeks ahead of Valentine’s Day, we saw scarlet and blush sported in a myriad of ways – our favourite being in the form of floor-skimming fuzzy faux furs. Beyond this traditional Valentine's Day colour scheme, street style served up a platter of romantic inspiration: white lace tights worn with a romantic slip dress and tall red boots, oversized fabric flower brooches and crimson hair bows – just to name a few.
Below, we've gathered the best ensembles to emulate this Valentine's Day:
