Street stylers all seem to agree: 'mid-rib' is the most riveting body part to put on display this season
Knits are a natural staple in the Nordic summer wardrobe, worn over swimsuits and denim shorts or thrown over the shoulders of a breezy dress. However, if the street stylers are to be trusted, a new crop of cut-off sweaters has crept into the fashion consciousness. Exposing the upper midriff (or the 'mid-rib', if we may call it so), the cropped cut is making waves in almost every fashion capital across the world – from Sydney to New York.
Pondering the unprecedented plethora of cropped knits this season, it is easy to identify the culprit. After all, that Miu Miu spring/summer 2022 collection took to the streets of Paris and London en masse with those iconic shrunken knits cropping up positively everywhere.
The cropped knit comes in many variations and styles, from mini-cardigans to cut-off crew necks. However, when styling the piece, layering is key. Look to the sheer knit sported over a tone-on-tone tank top in Sydney, the cardigans worn underneath perfectly draped coats, and those cropped sweaters layered over equally cropped shirts for inspiration.
Below, we've gathered the 15 best cropped knits as sported by street stylers.
