With so many exceptional beauty products launching each week, here we separate the good from the great, the better from the best

In between meetings, events and countless hours of TikTok scrolling, Vogue Scandinavia’s beauty editor, Esteban G Villanueva, (Vogue’s first and only male beauty editor worldwide) lets us in on the current products he’s obsessed with. Whether they’re new trendy launches or all-time beauty favourites, these offerings have caught his eye, and they should catch yours, too, making them a must-have in your ever-expanding beauty cupboard.
Here’s what he’s loving this week:
With Scandinavia in the midst of Midsummer celebrations, the products that we’re focusing on this week are those who make our lives and routines easier. From the tech solution to any unforgiving pimples, to an all-around pigment fix, here are the best pics for a post-midnight-sun weekend.
The first thing one needs to focus on is cleaning. A good cleanser is one that able to take away dirt, oil and traces of makeup and sweat without leaving the skin stripped from its natural oils and nutrients. Dr. Jart’s Cicapair Tiger Grass Enzyme Cleanser is specially formulated for sensitive skin and allows for a thorough cleansing that isn’t harsh on the skin. Plus, the enzymes aid in removing the dead skin cells from the epidermis.
The most important thing one has to take care of after a busy and social weekend is hydration - the foundation for good skin. That being said, hydration doesn’t have to mean slugging or heavy moisturising, it can be a simple, clean, gel texture — like Lumene’s Water Gel. Designed for 24 hour hydration, the gel-cream gives for a shine-free finish while plumping and balancing the skin thanks to a combination of hyaluronic acid, Nordic birch sap and niacinamide.
If the weekend left you with a pimple or two as proof of the fun and good time you had, the next obsession comes in the form of the perfect pairing for a high-tech blemish fighting sword. Made as a blemish targeting solution, Foreo’s new treatment combines 2% salicylic acid, niacinamide and tea tree oil for an anti-pimple solution. The best part? It can be supercharged with the Espada’s traditional anti-acne therapy, for a pimple gone in no time.
From the face, we move onto the hair. Designed as both a smoothing spray and a heat protectant, Continu’s latest launch is a light, milky conditioner spray that combines a cysteine complex with coconut oil to smooth out while retaining moisture within each strand of hair. Made to be used pre blow- or air-drying, it will tame the hair and add shine and silkiness.
Onto makeup, we’re going for a simple, yet glowy look. First off is Manasi’s new Chaminade Eye Glow Colour. Designed in their traditional and loved balm form, although set as an eye cream shade, it can be used throughout the face for multiple purposes. With a shimmery copper colour, it can be used to enhance the eyes, add a bit of depth to the cheeks and even a shimmer to the pout.
Even if we’re not going for a smokey look, we do want a mascara that holds up against flaking, smudging, sweat, and humidity — and this is where Bobbi Brown’s Smokey Eye Mascara comes in. With a kohl base, it gives for a true black pigment that holds throughout the day and allows for the extra highlight or boost that a good set of lashes can give.
Finally, the scent of the week comes from a Stockholm-based perfumery called SG79. Inspired by the different faces of the city, this scent evokes the lush, green and fresh characteristic of the Swedish capital in the summer months. With a harmonious blend of bergamot, grapefruit, sage , verbena and cardamom as its opening; green, rose, pear, ginger and green tea as middle body and a base of musk, cedarwood and vetiver it gives for an uplifting, revitalising scent.
