This coming spring / summer season, Samsøe Samsøe conquers the great outdoors as the brand tells us they've 'Gone Fishing'
'Gone Fishing’, is the title of Samsøe Samsøe’s SS23 collection, and according to Head of Womenswear Meme Fagiuoli it embodies the notion of "taking a day off to enjoy some good summer times outdoors." As such, the collection takes us into the wilderness, one texture cargo trouser and sheer blouse at a time. As a whole, the collection was a celebration of tactility. Crinkled, faded and ombre mixed and merged to recreate that carefree feeling of clothes being hung to dry in the sun. In a quintessentially Samsøe colour palette, Fagiuoli marries soft shades of pistachio and off white with earthy and 'silverish' tones, enlivened by a few pops of red, cherry, soft pink and neon – all grounded in faded black, sage and a variety of brown hues.
As designed for this trip into the wild, the collection is a sartorial answer to a Russian nesting doll with almost all of the pieces lending themselves toward a layered look. "The combinations are infinite," says Fagiuoli. The designer's highlight from the upcoming collection, however, is a soft ombre shirt in a crinkled viscose. "It is perfect to pair with our cool cargo pants that come both in a light summer tweed and in a classic faded black cotton," she says. "I love them and know that I am going to wear those every day!"
For the brand's expanding category of accessories, the focus remains on the concept of a weekend away from the city. Think weekend bags, beach canvas, oversized totes and hats. When it comes to shoes, Samsøe has started to create its own lasts and as such, "adding our own touch" as Fagiuoli puts it. "One of my favorites this season is our Elsa heel, an updated mule that comes in padded satin and in strappy soft pink leather to spice summer breeze up."
