Actresses Lena Olin and Tora Hallström will both be brandishing Rare Jewelery's new Hilma af Klint inspired collection at the world premiere of Lasse Hallström's Hilma

Hilma af Klint has long inspired creative endeavours in the Nordics, in fact, her artwork was the source of Vogue Scandinavia's award-winning packaging. Now, the esoteric artist has become a source for both a new biopic and jewellery collection. "A close friend of mine told me about the exciting film Hilma which was to be made by Lasse Hallström with the main protagonist Lena Olin and daughter Tora," Rare Jewelry founder Dannie Larsson explains. "As a designer, I have always been inspired by art, buildings and patterns in my previous collections, I was immediately interested."

Immersing herself in the artist and her art, three unique collections slowly started to take form. Known for her work with the abstract, Larsson focused on the way Hilma worked. "She drew a lot of paintings and used a lot of color, but I wanted to keep the collection clean in its design," says Larsson. "I don't want to feel that I am copying her paintings, but rather that the collections are inspired by her paintings." More precisely, Hilma's famous paintings of logarithmic helixes and spiral patterns, as well as her delicate depictions of swans.

The same friend who first highlighted the upcoming Hilma movie also introduced the designer to Lena Olin and Tora Hallström who play the titular character at different ages. A collaboration quickly came to fruition. "I showed what I could do and my vision of a Hilma-inspired collection, and Lena and Tora told me their wishes, what they would like to wear," Larsson says. "It is important to me that Lena and Tora love the jewellery and want to wear it."

As for Lena and Tora, the mother-daughter duo couldn't be happier with the results. "Rare Jewelry is such a fabulous mix of exquisite quality and rock and roll," Olin says of working with the jeweller on the collaboration. "Dannie is so open for input – knowledgeable and prestigeless. We've been a big part of the design process, which has been priceless."

Launching in October, we will be able to see the collections worn by Olin and Hallström to Hilma premieres, as well as selected interviews and photoshoots throughout early autumn.
