Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark attended a wreath-laying memorial service in Copenhagen
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark have paid tribute to the country's fallen soldiers this morning at the annual Flag Day event in Copenhagen. The royals arrived at the Military Headquarters Kastellet, to take part in a wreath-laying ceremony for Danish soldiers abroad.
In honour of the sombre occasion, Princess Mary opted for a black Prada coat, teamed with a Max Mara monochromatic dress, printed with cascading black poppies for an ombré effect. This was accessorised with a wide-brimmed black hat from Susanne Juul adorned with a white bloom. A striking brooch and elegant black Jimmy Choo pumps completed the ensemble.
The princess paired the outfit with a black leather clutch and matching black gloves, as for jewellery she chose sensible pearl stud earrings. The Australian native sported a polished makeup look, consisting of powder pink lipstick and soft black liner.
The service was also attended by Danish army veterans and the country's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Flag Day honours those who are or have been sent on a mission by Denmark. September 5 is the official day in Denmark to pay respect to deployed soldiers and during this date there are usually several events and ceremonies throughout the day.
