In perfect synergy with the brand's punk and dark DNA, the beauty of P.L.N.’s spring / summer 2023 show brought the true definition of good chaos to the runway
Messy makeup was probably not our beauty ideal – until we saw the looks at the latest P.L.N. show at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Edgy, punk, and sexy, the look created for the runway reflected the restless DNA of the brand, as it presented only its second collection in a highly-anticipated, packed-out show. On the runway, set in an industrial field in the Danish capital, the models showed off an apocalyptic, dystopian beauty flair.
The beauty was as grunge as it gets: a mix of black and lead-grey smokey eyeshadow coloured the eyes of some models, while others had their under-eye area accentuated with red eye shadow, recreating the aesthetic of someone who is badly in need of a long night's sleep. But, of course, in the best possible way. Bleached eyebrows and dark red lipstick purposely applied without respecting the limits of the lips intensified the messy mood.
For the hair – from super-long bleached strands of beach-textured hair to a honeyed pixie created with many layers of gel – the diversity of textures and styles seems to be an ode to the individuality proposed by a made-to-order label. For some models, thin, long braids came down from the face to the ankles like a curtain, blending in with the ribbons of fabric and upcycled denim in perfect tune.
This chaotic aesthetic as a whole may not appeal for your everyday beauty, but the truth is that the pop-punk vibe of the early 2000s is, slowly and steadily, taking over the trends that we're anticipating for the coming seasons. The first one we're obsessed with? Messy smokey eyes – take note.
