Amongst the illustrious names walking at Paris Fashion Week was a certain King in the North, together with his Greenlandic Queen

The spring / summer 2023 showcase at Paris Fashion Week has delivered a slew of viral moments, and yesterday, the Scandinavian star power was turned up as famed Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau appeared on the L'Oreal Paris runway.

With his wife, Greenlandic singer Nukaka Coster-Waldau in tow, Nikolaj emerged on the catwalk among an array of A-lister models, such as Gemma Chan, Eva Longoria and Coco Rocha. As a long-time collaborator with Paris Fashion Week, L’Oreal’s show, dubbed 'Le Defile Walk Your Worth', allowed the iconic beauty brand to "show what we know how to do with hair colouring and makeup," says Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, the global brand president of L'Oreal Paris.

For the occasion, Nikolaj opted for a simple yet sleek charcoal boiler suit, while Nukaka donned a dramatic, black tulle dress by Copenhagen-based fashion brand Søren le Schmidt - a red carpet favourite amongst a bevvy of Nordic celebrities (including the Coster-Waldaus themselves). "Actually, it was a bit of a coincidence that the dress ended up at the runway in Paris," le Schmidt tells Vogue Scandinavia. "Nikolaj and Nukaka visited me in the studio last week and saw the dress on a mannequin. Friday evening Nukaka called me from Paris and had Nikolaj pick up the dress in the studio in Copenhagen before going to the airport. I think she just felt that she needed to wear that dress for the show."

Although the L'Oreal show was Nukaka’s runway debut, her husband, on the other hand, has dipped his toes in modelling before. Nikolaj last walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week in 2018 as a brand spokesperson for Le Défilé L'Oréal Paris, while earlier this year, the Game of Thrones star was immortalised on the pages of Vogue Scandinavia's February-March 2022 issue.
