Mworks - runway - SS23

The Copenhagen Fashion Week newcomer promised boys, shorts and flowers, and delivered

For spring/summer 2023, Mworks does what it says on the tin, naming its collection ‘Boys In Shorts Love Flowers’. Showing today in Copenhagen, guests were introduced to a succession of boys, predominantly in shorts (and sometimes little else), marching through sporadically positioned crates of fresh flowers.

The florals were not limited to the runway floor, though, also recurring in the graphic square-framed prints and technicolour patterns which engulfed the last two looks entirely, and danced on supersized screens behind the models. To modulate the vivid florals: a satisfying spectrum of blues, from turquoise to International Klein. The namesake shorts (and occasional trousers) of the collection are paired with hoodies, sweatshirts and windbreakers – always translating as smart over sloppy, owing to impeccable proportions.

The Paris-based trio of designers make up one of the three brands up for the Zalando Sustainability Award, after impressing judges with use of innovative materials and techniques such as SEAQUAL® yarn and seamless knitting which reappear in the latest collection.

The whole affair felt truly Parisian, but not pretentious: just clean and effortless with a playful wink.
