Move over Adidas Sambas, there's a new sneaker in town courtesy of New Balance and Miu Miu, and we're adding it to cart
In case you needed any reminding, Miu Miu and New Balance make the perfect pair (of shoes), and the brands’ latest collaboration is concrete testament to that. As part of their ongoing partnership, the labels have now launched the coveted New Balance x Miu Miu 530SL sneaker, a design based on New Balance’s relatively under-the-radar 530 silhouette originally released in 1992.
Our first glimpse of the revamped 530 was on the runway last September, when Miu Miu presented its spring/summer '24 collection. Styled with low-hung, slouchy trousers, Miuccia Prada showcased the ultimate way to wear the shoe this season. Nevertheless, for us Scandis, who adore sneakers with virtually anything, sneakers can be paired effortlessly with a pair of boyfriend jeans or a flowy maxi skirt.

When it was launched in the ‘90s, the New Balance 530 was initially conceived as a running shoe. Exuding the era’s minimalism and crafted of luxe suede, leather and mesh, it became an instant hit among many a sneakerhead. Keeping some features of the old silhouette, such as the streamlined design and breathable uppers intact, the collaboration with Miu Miu brings forth a more contemporary take on the shoe with its ultra-flat sole and new textures of distressed and unprocessed suede. The sneaker’s name, 350SL, refers to its super light construction.
Available in two versions boasting warm browns or classic black and white, the shoe comes with laces of various materials, from leather to sailing cord, that can be mixed and matched to one’s styling desires. If the sneaker was before a cult gem among those in the know, now it’s poised to take over the world.
