With her latest look, the American actress, minimalist tastemaker, and Rare Objects director joins a slew of celebrities whose wardrobes are brimming with Nordic designs.
Stepping out for a springtime walk, Holmes wore a lady-like Reformation cardigan, a high-neck cotton t-shirt, and barrel-leg denim while carrying a slouchy merlot-red hobo bag by Mansur Gavriel and a pair of oversized black sunglasses. And the cherry on top: a pair of powder blue Mary Janes by Swedish brand ATP Atelier. Perfectly poised as Holmes' statement shoe of choice for the moment, the ‘Napa’ leather ballet flats were impossibly wearable with a rounded toe and a delicate strap.

The look was a masterclass in contrast. But then again, Holmes is a queen of stylish contradictions and unexpected footwear. After all, the American actress was an early adopter of the "wrong-shoe" theory, a formula for dressing which has proven the power of a mismatched shoe to elevate an outfit. And in this case, the proven formula comes down to ATP Atelier's coquettish pair of Mary Janes, offsetting jeans and a T-shirt.
