Layer up and go bright, whether climbing a mountain or conquering the commute
On the mountain, more is more and the only reasonable ensemble for this snowy season is in-your-face rave ready regalia. Pairing puffed up puffers with functional fashion in a kaleidoscopic colour scheme, we faced the freshly fallen snow in our February-March issue. We headed north to the Swedish ski resort of Kungsberget where we were traversing slopes in billowing neon.
The colour bursting styling of this editorial is not exclusive to modern mountaineers, however. While we're heading towards brighter days, the sun is seemingly still sleeping in during the mornings. To endure our dark morning walks to work, we swathe ourselves in the very same eye-catching colours we'd wear on a potential mountain excursion.
And, yes, Moon Boots jam-pack the fun into functional whether worn to the office or the ski cabin.
When considering highlighter hues, orange is on our agenda. This citrus shade packs a punch, wether worn as a warming puffer or base-layer, peeking out atop tie-dyed trousers. While green is the most common combination (as dictated by colour theory and the colour wheel), we propose an alternative with massive potential: pinks and purples pairs perfectly when you throw the sartorial rule book out the window.
Winter gear as it pertains to silhouettes tend to be voluminous. Luckily for us, puffed up proportions are very much on the sartorial agenda this season. Reach for any of the four primary colours when picking your next coat, just make sure that wether cropped or floor length it's cut wide for ultimate impact.
When Vogue goes mountaineering, sparkly sequins finds their way to the slope. Rave friendly fabrics like these has long been a night-time exclusive, and while we do appreciate their unabashed contribution to our occasion wear we want to bring them out of the nightclub and onto the slopes. Layered with padded jackets and functional nylon, these pops of party feels highly appropriate for the hillside.
Tested and true, texture is an essential styling tool. When getting dressed in layers upon layers, texture can help differentiate the details of an over-the-tope ensemble. Faux furs worn with tulle and sneakers sparks out interest, wile netting and knits know no bounds when paired together.
We've already touched briefly on the sizeable silhouettes we swathe ourselves in. One aspect of over-sized dressing oft forgotten, however, is the necessity of balance. With cocooning parkas and padded puffers, we find ourselves reaching for leggings to contrast the differently cut garments. After all, maxi and mini is an unquestionably good combination.
As the sun sets, we plan to light of the night with highlighter hues. Spark some joy with coordinated colours like Klein blue and fire engine red. Sporting saturated colours, easy to spot among the glistening snow, we brighten the midnight mood.
