Founded in 2005 by eminent organisations such as Cartier and Tiffany & Co., RJC is a world’s leading standard-setting organisation for the jewellery and watch industry. With the aim of creating a sustainable future, RJC strives to achieve a supply chain that advocates responsibility worldwide.

Consisting of now more than 1450 member companies across 71 countries, all RJC members share the same belief – responsible business is a must, whilst neither people nor the planet shall be harmed. Becoming a certified RJC member is a result of external revision of the company’s business activities and acts as a show of commitment towards a more transparent and eco-friendly jewellery and watch industry.

Congratulating Georg Jensen on the new-found membership, RJC executive director Iris Van der Veken emphasises the role of trust in the process of purchasing a piece of fine jewellery – certified members of RJC assure that consumers are investing in a responsible practice. The membership is a significant step for Georg Jensen. “We look back on over 100 years of beautiful designs designed to last a lifetime, and the RJC certification is a recognition that our business has respect for the environment, our employees and the community around us. In addition, it encourages us to set even higher standards in the years to come,” says Georg Jensen CEO Mehul Tank.

Most known for their elegant silver pieces, engaging in responsible business and producing pieces that will last for generations has been at the core of Georg Jensen for decades. Each piece is a show of skilful craftsmanship celebrating the brand’s Danish heritage, and although already heavily invested in sustainability, Georg Jensen aspires to do even better in the future. For example, the design house has committed to a full transition to recycled gold by the end of 2022, setting a good example for the rest of the industry.
