No need for his and hers when picking your next watch purchase

While some aspects of the watch world – such as the size of the dial and wrist band – is still applicable when differentiating between genders, the idea of gendered watches feels antiquated. While there is nothing wrong with hyper feminine expressions and design, as of late, we've noticed a shift with the differences between gendered watches slowly evening out. No longer are men's watches garishly large, or women's versions tiny as can be. Instead, a unisex appeal seems to guide the market with mid-sized watches and muted colour palettes.

Below, we've gathered five beautiful watches that will suit you regardless of gender:

1

Tudor

Pelagos FXD Marine Nationale

Released late in 2021, the Tudor Pelagos FXD (FXD refers to the robust FiXeD strap bars) Marine Nationale is not your everyday divers watch. Instead, this watch was Developed to a set of unique specifications created in collaboration with a specialist unit of the French Navy, designed for underwater navigation and optimised for professional use. In fact, Tudor has been the official supplier of dive watches to the French Navy since 1961.

Not only does this watch sport a remarkable story behind its technical design, but the slender height and 42-millimetre watch face pairs oh-so-well due to the charming fabric strap from the renowned French Julien Faure company – the same company who produces the ribbons featured on French military uniforms. So choose your own uniform to wear pair this watch with, especially if that uniform is swimwear.

Rolex

Oyster Perpetual 41

Perhaps you read about a certain Patek Philippe Nautilus that was released to mark the 170th anniversary of Tiffany & Co. Perhaps you also noticed that the first of this very coveted watch sold at auction for a whopping 5.7 million euros on Dec. 9. As a result, in the slipstream of this “Tiffany Blue” Nautilus, the secondary prices of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual – first released in 2020 – soared overnight and is currently being offered at more than 30 times its original retail price.

If you have a great relationship with your Rolex retailer – because this hot timepiece is tough to get – then make sure to explore the possibilities to get your hands on this 'Tiffany Blue' Oyster Perpetual. Worn between you and/or your partner or even your close friends, enjoy this very illustrious watch. After all, sharing is caring.

3

Doxa

Aquamarine

On the note of 'Tiffany blue', few watches celebrate this colour better than a watch that has nothing to do with the LVMH-owned jewellery brand: Doxa. Especially this sporty 3-hander Doxa Sub 300 T Aquamarine that is fitted with a spectacular light blue colour that would make even Tiffany & Co – and owners of any light-blue dial watch – green with envy.

Thankfully, the auction frenzy has not (yet) hit this great watch brand, which means that this 42,5 millimetre, 300-meter water-resistant Sub 300 T fitted with a spectacular Beads of Rice steel bracelet – of a wonderful light-blue rubber strap – can be yours at a very decent price.

4

Tag Heuer

Aquaracer Professional 300

Swiss manufacturer TAG Heuer has always been a favourite for sporty purposes. Already in the late 1980s TAG Heuer was famous for its diver's watches, not least the TAG Heuer 1000 'Night Diver' with a fully luminous dial.

In 2021 TAG Heuer re-released this watch in the 43 millimetres Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver fitted with a very comfortable rubber strap. Again the dial glows intensely in deep, dark waters or on the dark dance floor of your favourite nightclub. So wear it on your deep dives in the ocean or after hours in the club, when the lights are dimmed and your favourite tune is playing.

5

Bulgari

Aluminium watch

This Italian Maison, known for some of the finest jewellery ever made, is also famous for its wristwatches. In recent years especially the Serpenti for women and the Octo Finissimo for men have been met with solid demand. However, the Aluminium model is also being met with a lot of demand for different reasons. Not least the very appealing size of 40 millimetres. It is not a new model at all, though. Instead, the Bulgari Aluminium was initially launched back in the 1990s, taking the market by storm with its case made from aluminium and bezel made of rubber.

In 2021 this very appealing lightweight watch made a remarkable comeback and in a size that appeals to be him, her and everyone else.
