Oslo Runway's jewellery exhibition returns as part of the official 2023 schedule this August. Get to know the six buzzy brands selected for the showcase here
Norwegian fashion is having a moment, with the likes of Envelope1976 and Holzweiler turning heads across the Nordic region and further abroad. But this year, Oslo Runway is set to once again shed beyond just fashion, with lifestyle, art, culture, and of course jewellery, taking the stage.
Returning in August, with the full schedule to be announced soon, Oslo Runway's 2023 program will shed deserved light on six up-and-coming jewellery brands with a dedicated exhibition at contemporary gallery Kunsthall Oslo. "Timeless jewellery heirlooms have held a strong position in Norway for a long time, and jewellery has been associated with traditional craft and quality," comments Elin Odh Carlsen, CEO of Oslo Runway, on the current momentum of Norwegian jewellery design. "Right now, we see a great increase in more maximalistic jewellery, often meeting at the intersection of art and fashion – with one of the most prominent Norwegian jewellery brands, being Pearl Octopuss.y. But also, newcomer Isa.Collective is a really interesting artist, working in the field of maximalistic jewellery," Odh Carlsen adds.
The exhibition will highlight six up-and-coming names in the industry, which in Odh Carlsen's words, present everything from "hyper conceptual art pieces," to "modern classics with a raw twist." Ali Shah Gallefoss, Oslo Runway's head of art and curator of the exhibition notes that "jewellery will also take a much bigger role on the runway this year, both in unexpected ways, and in a progressive partnership launching in August."
The jewellery on show will be complemented with works by contemporary artist Dev Dhunsi, who creates installations featuring photography, sound, light and sculpture. "Each of the six brands will work individually with Dhunsi to create a personalised space that aligns with their own design language," says Gallefoss, ultimately creating "an immersed universe where the jewellery will be perceived in a new way," he says.
Oslo Runway will come to life in the capital from 14 - 19 August, while the jewellery exhibition will take place ill take place from 12.00 - 17.00 each day on the 16 - 19 August. Below, get to know each of the six jewellery brands exhibiting:
