In this Vogue Scandinavia exclusive video, we invite you to step inside Gustav Magnar Witzøe’s Trondheim mansion, where the world’s youngest billionaire shares his eerie childhood memories and discusses the ingredients of success
“The house I grew up in was an old house with creaky floors, and then you could hear the wind howling and the waves crashing in the night – it could feel like it was taken out of a Hitchcock movie.”
As ominous, grey clouds gather in the sky and the gusting wind has waves surging from the Trondheim fjord, Gustav Magnar Witzøe’s portrayal of his secluded childhood surroundings seems somewhat similar to where the heir to one of the world’s largest salmon farming fortunes resides now. Although Witzøe’s current abode is far from old and creaky, a certain eeriness remains in the vast, dim manor boasting impressive, moody interiors.
In addition to becoming the largest shareholder of the company founded by his father, Witzøe has also started his own ventures and acted as an angel investor – all in his twenties. “Success does not come inherited - least of all, from a name. You have to earn your respect,” he says. Witzøe is also featured in Vogue Scandinavia's April/May issue.
Below, an exclusive look inside the billionaire's Trondheim mansion alongside a peek into what has shaped him into who he is today.
