When it comes to iconic works of design mastery, there’s the Parisian Arc de Triomph, the Spanish Arco de Triunfo, and Dusty Deco’s coveted Arco Lounge Chair – now reinterpreted by none other than it-girl Pernille Teisbæk
Every now and then, a collaboration comes along that feels written in the stars. One such fateful union is Danish creative Pernielle Teisbæk and cult-favourite interiors mecca Dusty Deco. The serendipitous new partnership has actually been years in the making, with Teisbæk and Dusty Deco’s owner Edin Memic Kjellvertz meeting a while back, when Teisbæk was a regular client of the then Stockholm-based trade of vintage interior wares. They bonded over a shared appreciation for style and aesthetics, as Teisbæk established and grew her Dusty Deco collection.
“Pernille has loved and followed Dusty Deco for years,” Kjellvertz explains. “I discovered Dusty Deco when we renovated our old house," Teisbæk adds. "We wanted to include a lot of vintage pieces in our home, and at that time, Dusty Deco had an amazing curated selection of vintage furniture. We bought a beautiful brass table for our living room.” This table was just the beginning, with Teisbæk going on to collect a number of Dusty Deco pieces including the brand's Labyrinth rug, which she says “takes the centre spot in our living room.”

As the images of Teisbæk’s Arco Lounge Chair suggest, it’s a creation that sits comfortably in the interiors of our dreams – while also being a piece that will instantly elevate our own humble abodes. The piece clearly nods to both of its makers, with the organic, rounded and retro-tinged silhouettes synonymous with Dusty Deco, and the clean, sleek personal style of Teisbæk. This collaborative version uses Nubuck leather from Danish brand Sørensen Leather for the signature armrests – inspired by prominent architectural arches throughout history – contrasted with zebra print for the chair, creating an effect that is both striking and timeless.

“I’ve always been drawn to a neutral colour palette, with a mix of textures and surfaces,” says Teisbæk of the design choices. “The delicate soft leather is something that you see in many places in our home, even though we have three small kids. I like when the leather gets patina and you can see it’s been in a home full of life. On the choice of zebra print, Teisbæk says, “I wanted to create a contrast…. It makes the chair stand out.”

The creative collaboration began at the start of this year, with “lots of calls, brainstorms, mood boards and fabric swatches,” Teisbæk recounts, “before we finalised the end result a few months ago. It’s been an amazing opportunity to do my own take on one of Edin’s iconic pieces, I loved the whole process. We have been aligned since day one.”
“I am so happy with the result, and can’t wait for it to be placed in amazing homes,” she adds. As always, every chair is made by hand in Sweden, by O. H. Sjögren, one of the oldest and most distinguished furniture manufacturers in Sweden, with each chair individually numbered.
Pernille Teisbæk's Arco Lounge Chair design launches on 10 November.
