As Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway celebrates her milestone 50th birthday, Vogue Scandinavia honours the future Queen of Norway's milestone with a look back at her best sartorial hits
Sensible, sophisticated and elegant are the first words that spring to mind when one looks at the style of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. Mette-Marit, who married into Norway's Royal Family in 2001, met Haakon, the Crown Prince of Norway, through mutual friends. Since becoming a member of Norway's Royal Family, the Crown Princess has won the nation's hearts with her authenticity and compassion, performing her royal duties while educating herself further.
The charming commoner-come-princess has also undoubtedly earned her sartorial stripes over the past decades with her carefully composed get-ups. Feminine silhouettes, dapper tailoring and a muted colour palette define the future Queen of Norway's wardrobe, spiced up by the occasional pops of paintbox brights and adorable pastels in her fairytale-like evening gowns.
Sporting everything from high street to high end, Mette-Marit shows excellent examples of understated, yet modern royal dressing.
