You might recognise him as the blood-thirsty count Dracula or as quietly existential art director Christian in the Square, but this is something else entirely…
We meet the Danish actor Claes Bang on a busy, bustling street in France’s capital city Paris for a shoot with a little bit of a difference. The Square actor is busy trying on the breathtaking couture creations of his friend and designer Ashi, think long silk feather coat and silk crepe cape. Filmed by Mahmut Akay, Bang appears ever so relaxed and at home – all 6’4” of him striding about in these otherworldly getups. “I feel really, really cool wearing Ashi’s creations. It’s very sort of sculptural and it also has this sort of slightly otherworldly feel,” Bang tells us.
This is all quite the departure from the usual on-set roles the 55-year-old typically plays. Previously taking on the bloodsucking villain in the BBC’s rip-roaring 2020 TV series Dracula, along with publicly shamed art museum director in Ruben Östlund’s The Square and more recently as Alexander Skarsgård’s nephew in this year’s Robert Egger’s The Northman.
