The unveiling in the Norwegian capital marks the third store that the French luxury house now boasts here in Scandinavia

Chanel has officially made its first stride onto the streets of Oslo, opening its very first boutique in the Norwegian capital. Placed in a prime position in the city's fashion district right on Nedre Slottsgate, a busy thoroughfare dotted with other luxury and high-end boutiques, the 345-square-metre boutique recently opened its doors to excited shoppers.

The much-anticipated new space, imagined by the New York-based architect Peter Marino, is decked out in a refined colour code of black, white and gold, finished with tailor-made bespoke fabrics and furniture decked out in the maison’s signature tweed. Generously spread across two levels, the first floor of the boutique houses the very latest ready-to-wear offerings, along with an inviting shoe salon – the Goossens rock crystal chandelier the final finishing flourish.

“The shop is super chic," says Robert Rydberg, Vogue Scandinavia's fashion director, who attended the opening. "It's very luxurious, it has two floors and there is a big sofa grouped together, and there’s this really big mirror wall. It feels almost like a luxury hotel.”

“The shop was very relaxed in atmosphere, with some great service as well. When you are inside it, it feels huge, it was very spacious, so it really felt as if you were in a big city, like New York. All-in-all, it’s a really great shopping experience.”

The second floor offers guests a closer, intimate opportunity to browse recent designs at leisure; it’s a space reminiscent of Gabrielle Chanel’s impeccable apartment on Paris’ Rue Cambon, complete with bespoke accents and a pair of antique black lacquered side tables. Beyond the latest ready-to-wear, the boutique provides visitors with an airy, and refined setting in which to browse bags, shoes, eyewear, watches and fine jewellery and accessories, as well as a host of beauty and fragrance items.
