Swedish lifestyle brand Axel Arigato, who is best known for their sneakers, is joining the resell revolution
Axel Arigato has since its 2014 launch been a direct-to-consumer brand that brings together likeminded creatives for collaborations ranging from art to music.
Now Axel Arigato is launching a resell platform dubbed Xchange. The brand-operated site is set to launch 1 December, powered by resale e-commerce platform Reflaunt. This new online ecosystem will work as a creative hub for the community, allowing not only buying and selling of pre-owned styles, but also to create dialogues within the community that goes beyond the transactions. As Xchange develops, there are also plans for different forms of artist collaborations to create exclusive, reworked shoe styles that fall into the category of both vintage and new.
Xchange will launch initially in UK, France, Germany, and Sweden, where the shoes will be listed for sale exclusively for to the Axel Arigato community. After a 3 month period, any unsold items will be automatically listed on Reflaunt’s global marketplace.
Quality and durability has since the start been the cornerstones of Axel Arigato. Prolonging the life of the shoes through entering the resell market was a natural evolution for the lifestyle brand. ‘’Since day one our mission has been to create products that last, at a price that is attainable’’, Albin Johansson, CEO of Axel Arigato, exclusively tells Vogue Scandinavia. ‘’ This founding principle, along with our desire to create a direct to consumer brand that evolves to the changing needs of our customers, resale was the next obvious step for us to take.”, he continues.
Axel Arigato’s investment in the rapidly growing resale sneaker market is built to pay off, with Reflaunt currently valuing it at US$6billion with growth estimated to reach US$30million by 2030. Reflaunt’s word-wide experience was earned them pervious partnerships with brands like H&M and most recently, Net-a-porter. The online marketplace holds a customer base of over 50 million eco-conscious, second-hand shoppers.
“We want to be a brand that creates solutions for our customers – and this is the first step is empowering our customer to make decisions that better the planet, says Max Svärdh, Axel Arigato's creative director.
