“It started when I saw this really nicely-drawn swan and I just liked the graphic,” says Adnym co-founder Stefan Söderberg
Adnym is a brand whose palette oft consists of black and white, so it’s not entirely surprising that for autumn/winter '24, it turned to a creature who comes in those contrasting shades: the swan. “It started when I saw this really nicely-drawn swan and I just liked the graphic,” says Adnym co-founder Stefan Söderberg. “And then you can take it from there, with a contrast of light and dark, soft fabrics and technical fabrics…” At the centre of the collection is an all-over-print lounge set depicting graphic, soaring swans.
Elsewhere, the dichotomy of black and white is found in more abstract ways: a relaxed black suit featuring ankle-cropped trousers with a subtle drop-crotch is disrupted by a stripe of white linen, while a crisp white shirt is met with an extra-long black skinny tie. “It’s really about this play of black and white and how they meet,” notes co-founder Frippe Persson.
But there’s another dichotomy at play: that between masculine and feminine. It’s a common thread running through all of Adnym’s collections, one that balances softness with strength and changes the mood of a garment depending on who wears it. Take a heavy wool pleated skirt, worn on a man in the lookbook, or a suit and tie – styled instead as a thin wraparound scarf
worn by a woman. In Adnym’s world, it’s not so black and white after all.
