Our avatar, AADA, can travel to the furthest reaches of cyberspace in the blink of an eye. For our December-January issue, we asked AADA if she would be up for exploring the dystopian landscapes imagined by artist duo Inka and Niclas Lindergård. Her initial response? “Let me check my schedule.” Followed swiftly by, “But of course.”

The result was the avatar’s very first fashion editorial, brought to life digitally here. This otherworldly trip marks the very first time AADA has been captured in motion. “AADA will roam free in frozen moments of time we have captured,” says Inka. “She will do something no one else can.”

Watch the video:

Niklas and Inka’s mystical landscapes are at once familiar and pure science fiction. Jagged rocks and endless lakes, still as glass, are awash in impossible neon hues. Travel further into their universe and trees are puffed up unnaturally, like cotton candy. With a specialised technique, the Swedish couple have managed to photograph nature in a way that appears totally unreal. Somehow they manage to capture the magical quality of the seemingly endless light that fills a Swedish summer.

For her big adventure, AADA would require an extraordinary wardrobe. So she called up our diversity editor, Mona M. Ali, for some packing assistance. Together they curated a selection of the most decadent looks from the Resort collections. A Louis Vuitton knitted set, paired with show-stopping silver Jimmy Choo stilettos, mirror the snow-covered evergreens she glides past. Meanwhile, the Northern Lights are reflected in a fantastical grecian Dior gown. “Oh, that look was to die for,” AADA gushes. “I may have forgotten to return it.”
